Saturday morning we went out early to see what we could see. Taking our map we headed out in a different direction toward higher ground. Changing our way a few times when we came upon an interesting walkway, we ended up eating breakfast at an outdoor café. (I’m sorry I forgot to take a picture at the café).

Before the flood we had planned on taking the CityCat ferry up the river to South Bank today. It’s an area on the river where they have a manmade beach, park area, shops, café’s and restaurants and weekend markets, it is also close to the Cultural Arts area. Since the ferries are not running we decided to walk there and see how the area was affected. Unfortunately nothing was open because cleanup is still going on. It was a nice walk and good to be out all morning and into the afternoon.

We came back and did our workout and spent some time down by the pool before coming up for a late afternoon lunch. Early evening we noticed a small portion of the river walk was open and went down to talk a short walk. It was something to see the water levels marked on some of the buildings and all the mud still left in the planters.

We are invited by our new friends to their home for lunch tomorrow after church to get away from the water and see a dryer part of Brisbane.
Hope your weekend is going well!
Sounds like you and Bob are getting a lot of walking in. How is his ankle holding up? My knee is much better since the maniplulation. Would love to be walking with you. Enjoy your time with friends tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it felt good to get outside for a bit! What are the temps there? Does Bob get to go back to the office on Monday? I'm taking Aaron today down to Bristol with his friends to go skiing and Doug is doing is usual bathroom work...that's the extent of our exciting weekend :-)
