80th Birthdays

In July 2010 we celebrated Mom’s 80th and in July 2011 we celebrated Dad’s 80th. What a wonderful gift to be able to celebrate the lives of your parents 80th birthdays. I have been so fortunate to have Christian parents who raised us girls in the church. What a comfort to know on good days or bad days that they are praying for me and my family every day.  I am so grateful that their Christian heritage learned from their parents has carried on down to our children and I see our granddaughters being taken to church and know that they will be raised in a Christian home.

Thanks Mom and Dad for a wonderful Christian example you have given us through the years.

Meeting Annika

July 2011, Bob and I drove out to Battle Lake, Minnesota to see Phil and Rachel and to meet Annika. We tried to make it in one long day, but a fifteen hour drive is very tiring. We made it as far as Minneapolis and spent the night. We arrived in Battle Lake the next morning and were greeted by our newest granddaughter.

Grandma's turn!

A wink and a smile!

She loved to be swaddled, but would wiggle her hands out!

…and what a blessing she has been. We have been so fortunate to be able to visit with her in person as well as Skype to see her grow over the past ten months.

Annika Claire

On June 16, 2011, our 32nd wedding anniversary we received a special gift. Annika Claire was born at 7:03pm CST at 5 lbs. 12 oz and 18.5 inches long. What an amazing gift. We are so grateful she arrived happy and healthy after many weeks of preterm labor, hospital visits and bed rest. We are so happy for Phillip and Rachel and the wonderful little girl they have. Also congratulations to Keith and Lori and we are so happy they were able to be there shortly after Annika’s arrival. We are looking forward to going for a visit in a few weeks and I’m sure we will have lots of pictures to arrive, in the meantime checkout Rachel’s blog and Shutterfly for pictures of our beautiful little granddaughter.
