Saturday before last we took the CitySights Hop On Hop Off tour. They have 19 stops around the Brisbane area that you can get off and visit and then back on, some stops we have already seen. We hopped on close to our place and went up to Mt. Coot-tha which is over 840 feet above sea level and a little over 3 miles west of Brisbane. The aboriginal people used to collect honey (ku ta) from stingless bees there, it means place of honey.
It is over 3,700 acres of natural bushland and contains the JC Slaughter Falls and many trails to walk, hike, bike and even go horseback riding. Our bus driver warned us that if you hike the trails to make sure to take plenty of water as many people get severely dehydrated and you have to watch out for the heat of the day. The towers for Brisbane television and radio stations are located on the mountain.

What a neat little cafe on the top of the hill there. And I'm so glad you made an appearance in one of your photos!
ReplyDeleteIs the landscape there mostly flat with a few humps for mountains or is it more hilly? Was out at book club. Will be home the rest of the week.
ReplyDeleteAround here it is very hilly. Some streets are a workout and there was quite a few hills when we go out of the city!
